10 on United flight from LA to Chicago hurt by turbulence

Heavy turbulence injured 10 people, including two flight attendants, on a United flight bound for Chicago flight early Monday.

The Boeing 757 was carrying 187 passengers and crew when it left Los Angeles.

I was going to a business trip from Los Angeles to Chicago on 20th of January 2008.

I was sleeping as is what I usually do. I woke up because the wind was blowing to my face.

A few minutes later the aircraft started shaking. It seemed like if it was about to fall. The same feeling when you go to magic mountain and you go down.

People were screaming. Another thing was that people started preying to Jesus and some even were holding their crosses. I would never imagine that people would do this. I concentrating on my breathing as this is my meditation technique and I always do it before I go to sleep and when I wake up.

I would not say exactly how long it took until the aircraft become stable. As soon after we heard on the radio that 2 flight attendants were injured. I heard that several people felt some pain as well.

I was glad that I have this habit to wear sit belt - either I am driving or I am in the airplane. I even checked how strong it was after this event.

I did not know before why we should wear our seat belt on a plane, now I know why. Here's the one-word answer: turbulence.

Heavy turbulence happened in between Los Angeles and Las Vegas and injured 10 people, including two flight attendants.

Our Flight 1028 was diverted to Denver International Airport at about 3 a.m. Upon landing, paramedics responded and transported two flight attendants and eight passengers to an area hospital, according to a spokesperson for United Airlines. Their conditions were not immediately known.

Everybody actually did not want to leave the plane, but the crew made us to leave the plane. Denver airport is a place you do not want to go. It's smells. I am so happy I live in Los Angeles. When we left the plane, so mostly people made a line because many needed to change their tickets as Chicago was not their last stop.

Other people were waiting for 2 attendants. At the end, when 2 flight attendants finally arrived, the crew members told us that not 2 but 4 flight attendants were injured. So we needed to wait a little bit.

A United maintenance crew looked at the plane and everything checked out. Another flight crew was called to the plane and it re-departed at 5:44 a.m. and landed in Chicago at 9:40 a.m.

They gave us $10.00 food vouchers and some sort of 20% discount for United tickets.
